International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPWD)

International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPWD) will take place on Sunday 3rd December 2023.

The day is about promoting the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities at every level of society and development, and to raise awareness of the situation of persons with disabilities in all aspects of political, social, economic, and cultural life.  This year, the theme for the IDPWD is 'Transformative solutions for inclusive development: the role of innovation in fuelling an accessible and equitable world'.

The Council, through our commitments set out in our Strategic Growth Plan and our Disability Scheme and Action Plan, is committed to working to promote positive attitudes and to encourage participation by disabled people in public life and across our communities by creating accessible and user-friendly environments for everyone to enjoy.

This year alongside programming delivered by Cultural Venues and Disability lead organisations DCSDC will host an Inclusive Arts Event Planning Workshop and information session delivered by members of Destined discussing their lived experience of life with a disability.
