Heritage and our historic environment
“Heritage is our legacy from the past, what we live with today and what we pass on to the future.” (UNESCO)
Council is committed to the conservation, community engagement and celebration of our historic environment. We value the heritage that has shaped and defined our people and landscape.
HISTORIC ENVIRONMENT
Our City and District has a rich and diverse historic environment that contributes to our sense of place and history. Our archaeology and built heritage assets includes many areas and sites of local and international interest. These assets include monuments such as the City Walls, our conservation areas, listed buildings and numerous protected archaeological remains.
