Strabane's Railways Remembered Book Launch and Presentation

Donegal Railway Museum are delighted to be launching our latest publication, Strabane's Railways Remembered by Jim McBride, at the Alley Theatre, Strabane on Wednesday 26th March at 7pm.

This book focuses on Strabane Station and the different railway lines that ran through it from its opening in 1847 until its closure and eventual demolition in 1989. As a border town, Strabane was a very busy station 24 hours a day (except on Sundays), and at one time employed over 400 people. This book tells this story through a wonderful collection of photographs that capture different periods in the history of the station, the lines that operated from it, and the people that worked and travelled through there.

On the night, Jim will give a presentation on the Strabane Railways, and it is our hope that a few of those who remember them will be there to contribute a story or two! Copies of the book and a selection of our other titles will be available for sale on the night.
