"So you're the first wave of Catholics allowed in Trinity?"

He becomes involved in the emerging Gay Rights movement in Trinity. The play charts the beginning of this struggle in Ireland.

Explore the splits in comradeship and divisions of that early movement, the burgeoning feminist and black civil rights demonstrations and the wider European struggles at that time to overthrow the old Patriarchal orders.

Taking on the hypocrisy of the Church and State North & South at that time Michael learns about life, love, class and how tough and violent gay rights activism can be.

Nancy Boy Shenanigans is not your typical Troubles or Gender play; it's a beacon of Resistance Theatre. Kerrigan's powerful storytelling offers a window into the LGBTQAI+ experience of Derry 1970's onwards through the eyes and ears of a gay Derry man navigating the tumultuous start of a war for basic civil rights, this play is a profound exploration of identity, resilience, and the fight for justice and peace.

In Partnership with Ulster University (Derry Campus), the school of Arts and Humanities, and UU's LGBT+ Staff Network and Dublin Pride.
