Holocaust Memorial Week
Date: 21 January 2025
Venue: Guildhall
Genocide survivor Munira Subasic, President of the Mothers of Srebrenica, will speak at an event in Derry as part of Holocaust Memorial Week.
The Srebrenica genocide serves as a stark reminder of the devastating consequences of ethnic and religious hatred. In Derry and Strabane, there is a strong commitment to embracing diversity, celebrating differences, and fostering equality. However, there is also recognition that achieving true racial equality and respect remains an ongoing journey. This commemoration, hosted by the Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, underscores the importance of these efforts, with the opportunity to host Munira and learn from her experiences playing a significant role in marking this solemn occasion.
