Journeywork, a creative life contains thirteen essays that explore the arc of a creative life. Each essay stands alone as a chapter, combining memoir, medical matters and reflections on creative practice and theory. It features travel stories interwoven with health challenges, work achievements and personal reflections. It is a case study of how one person creates works of imagination, while earning a living and maintaining a family, with all the ordinary ups and downs of such a life.
The launch event for the book will include Dave reading extracts from Journeywork, A creative life, screenings of Dance Lexie Dance (written by Dave) and Tumble Turns (Written and directed by Dave) and a conversation with Louise Gallagher, co-creator of hit BBC Drama Blue Lights.
Louise Gallagher has been working in the media industry for 30 years, with 23 of those years spent at the BBC in Belfast. In 2011 she flew the BBC nest to found Gallagher Films. Major recent projects for Gallagher Films include ‘Blue Lights’, a BBC drama series on which Louise is Co-Creator / Executive Producer.
Journeywork, a creative life by Dave Duggan will also be available for purchase at the launch event.
