Respect Our Shared Spaces This Summer

There are many physical and mental health benefits of spending time outdoors, being active and catching up with friends. The greenways and shared spaces throughout Derry City and Strabane Disctrict Council offer an accessible and enjoyable way to priortise health, fitness and wellbeing in everyday life.

This summer, we want to ensure that everyone has an enjoyable experience when using our shared spaces. That means respecting everyone's journey, practicing patience and consideration.

Derry City and Strabane District Council offer a number of recreational green spaces within the Council area, where people can meet, play, relax and come close to nature.

As the summer fast approaches, and hopefully the better weather, an appeal has been issued to encourage peole to be responsible whne visiting local parks and green spaces. With increased numbers of people out and about using the greenway network and visiting local beauty spots, Derry City and Strabane District Council is asking everyone to be mindful of others, avoid littering and not to engage in anti-social behaviour.

This Summer we kindly encourage the public to:

🚮 Use the bins provided to dispose of any rubbish.

🐕 Keep a close eye on their furry companions while walking, if using a stretchy lead or if their pet is off-leash.

🐕 Bring waste bags to clean up after your pets. Dispose of any waste in designated bins.

🚲 Be mindful of cyclists and runners. Ring your bell if cycling, to alert others when approaching.

🌳Always consider others who are using the greenways. Practice patience and understanding, especially during busy times.
