Time to go on the hunt for the Halloween Hay Trail

It’s the spookiest time of year and hauntingly brilliant creations are starting to pop up around the Strabane area. Yes, the spectacular Halloween Hay Trail is back.
Taking place in locations right across the district between 17th-31st October, the Hay Trail is a fantastic opportunity to get the whole family into the Halloween spirit this year.
The hay-mazing route will take you from Bready right over to Castlederg and everywhere in between. Co-ordinated by Derry City and Strabane District Council, the sculptures have been produced by the local communities, schools, businesses and farmers.
The popular Hay Trail has been running since 2017 and is a firm family favourite in the Halloween calendar. This year you can check out the following sculptures: Back to the Future at the Sollus Centre, Bready; Ghostly Goings on at New Horizons on the Derry Road; Frankenstein and Friends at North West Regional College; Beetlejuice by Holy Cross College at the Alley Theatre; The Tinnies has eerie Emojis by Strabane Academy and a creepy Spider by Easilink Community Transport; Bluey and Bingo at Sion Mills Integrated PS created by pupils and Wiggletown; Grim and Scream at Glebe Cross Community Association at Bellspark Road, Glebe; Aragog from Harry Potter by Strabane and District Young Farmers Club at Victoria Bridge; Witches, Cat and Cauldron by Churchtown Community Association in Castlederg; and check out the Newtownstewart Centre’s Spooky Halloween Hay sculpture.
Encouraging everyone to get out and about on the hunt for the haunting creations, the Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, Councillor Lilian Seenoi Barr said: “I am delighted to see the Hay Trail returning to the Strabane area this year. I know it’s something local families love to enjoy together at Halloween. I encourage everyone to get out and about over the next few weeks and see how many of these fabulous creations you can spot. And don’t forget to take some pictures and share them so everyone else can see the amazing characters which have been created.
“I would also like to thank all the organisations and individuals involved in bringing the Hay Trail to fruition. The creativity and imagination which goes into these sculptures is clear for everyone to see, we are very grateful for your support every year to create something which local families can enjoy.
