Strabane singer/songwriter puts culture into Culture Night at the Alley

Culture Night is fast approaching and as always it brings with it the chance to avail of a number of free activities in venues and public spaces across Strabane and Derry.

As part of Culture Night, on Friday 20th September, the Alley Theatre will welcome local musician Strabane singer/songwriter Brian Hassan to perform in the Alley Bar from 6pm. 

Brian has performed in numerous venues and festival throughout Ireland and the UK including Vicar Street, Dublin and The Ulster Hall, Belfast and also at the Celtic Connections Festival in The Royal Concert Hall, Glasgow to name but a few. 

His album ‘Tales from Home’ received extensive airplay on most mainstream radio stations throughout Ireland as well as receiving favourable reviews in the Sunday Times and Folk World. Over the years Brian has shared the stage with many Irish acts including, Bagatelle, Declan O’Rourke, Donna Taggart, The Fureys, Sharon Shannon, Frances Black, Kieran Goss, Donal Lunny and international acts including The Beach Boys, Dr Hook, 10cc and Jose Feliciano.  A versatile songwriter, Brian’s vocals have been described as a cross between Brian Kennedy and Tommy Flemming. 

Brian will be performing tracks from his three albums and also new tracks recorded as a result of being a recipient of an individual Artist and Cultural Practitioner Award 2024 – 2025 funded by Derry City and Strabane District Council.

So come along for a relaxing evening of superb music on Culture Night in the Alley Theatre Bar from 6pm. Admission is free.
