Spooktacular Success at Strabane Halloween Celebrations
1 November 2023
Strabane Halloween was a spooky success as huge crowds of people gathered to see the amazing fireworks display at the Melvin Running Track last night. Following a terror-ific weekend of ghostly going-ons, the final night of the Strabane Halloween celebrations did not disappoint.
The packed programme of events kicked off from the weekend, with the famous Halloween Hay Bale Trail starting earlier in the month. Halloween-lovers were treated to lots of family-friendly fun over the days in the lead up to Halloween with Scary Storytelling in Strabane Library, Teddy’s Haunted House in the Alley Theatre and a Spooktacular Fun Day at the Melvin Sports Complex. A spine-tingling Haunted House took over St Patrick’s Hall for those who were brave enough to enter, and there were various Pumpkin Patches across the district along with the much-loved Castlederg Apple Fair making a return this year.
Jacqueline Whoriskey, Festival and Events Manager at Derry City and Strabane District Council, said they were delighted with the turn out and thanked everyone for their support.
“As always, we love to deliver the Strabane Halloween Programme and it is so well supported by the local community. We were delighted to see such fantastic crowds show up to all the events throughout the day and for the amazing fireworks display yesterday evening. The fun did not stop all day between the brilliant Trick or Treat trails within the town centre, Parky the Magician and The Strabane Strollers.
"We would like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to everyone involved in the festival, from the local schools, community organisations, the local businesses and everyone else who supports and helps create the electric atmosphere throughout the Halloween celebrations in Strabane.”
