Public encouraged to give their views on Derg play parks
6 August 2024
Derry City and Strabane District Council is inviting stakeholders and residents to attend a series of public information sessions on the proposed designs for three new play parks in the Derg District Electoral Area.
The play parks are at Hillview Play Park in Castlederg, Glebe Play Park and Cluny Gardens Play Park in Clady, and sessions will take place on Tuesday 20th and Thursday 22nd August for the Derg areas.
The Engagement Events are open to residents, community groups and stakeholders with an interest in replacing the play park in their respective areas.
Looking ahead to the sessions, Mayor of Derry and Strabane Councillor Lilian Barr, encouraged people to attend the events local to them, so the project and design could be tailored to meet their needs.
“This is a key element of the design phase of the new Play Park project and an opportunity to speak directly with the design team,” she said.
"Outdoor play provision for children is a key priority in our Strategic Growth Plan and we have invested significantly in parks projects throughout the City and District through Council’s Play Plan.
"We believe the provision of outdoor play facilities is critically important to the lives of children and young people contributing to the development of essential skills that support social, intellectual, physical, and emotional wellbeing. It also provides a means of connecting with the wider community as well as plenty of opportunities for fun and enjoyment.”
Plans will be on display at the following locations within the Derg area and the public are encouraged to drop in anytime between 3pm and 7pm to view the designs at the following locations:
