The beats are coming to the streets of Strabane next week as the Wailin Banshees head up a fabulous collection of live music talent during Strabane Summer Jamm.

They will be joined by The Brambles and the Strabane Brass Band on June 17th for an afternoon of al fresco entertainment perfect for all the family.

The Wailin Banshees are firm favourites on the music circuit, known for their eclectic range and energetic delivery, playing to packed audiences up and down the country. Hailing from Strabane, they deliver an impressive set list of rock classics, coupled with some Irish Folk and Trad, all delivered in their own inimitable style.

They will be joined by some more first-class local talent as The Brambles take to the stage for an eclectic set featuring Folk, Irish, Rock and Pop favourites. The Brambles are a Strabane based 5-piece band known all over the North West for their crowd pleasing performances.

The band have a passion for bringing brass to a whole new generation of young music lovers and performers through Brass Works.

Looking ahead to the event, the newly installed Mayor of Derry and Strabane, Councillor Patricia Logue, said she was really looking forward to a packed programme of premier entertainment. “Strabane Summer Jamm will be my first major event as Mayor, and it will be a great opportunity to get out on the streets of Strabane to meet some local people,” she declared.

“It’s a real talent showcase and I’m looking forward to seeing some of the wonderful locally based performers. Summer Jamm embodies all that’s great about Strabane – the fabulous hospitality, fun and community spirit that set the place apart. I am committed to supporting Strabane and the many aspirations and plans for the town throughout my term as Mayor and I can’t wait to hear more from local people about their ideas and hopes for the area.”

As well as the live music stage, there is lots to see and do throughout the festival with entertainment spread throughout the town centre from 12pm – 5pm. Castle Place will be ramping things up with the action-packed BMX Biking and Parkour Skills Courses for kids and teenagers, as well as Graffiti Art for budding street artists. Main Street will host a range of attractions including live music, Kidz Farm, Market stalls, the Loughs Agency Touch Tank, an array of training services, and even an appearance from the Strabane Brass Band. There will also be some fantastic performances to enjoy from local arts groups Class Act, Much Ado Stage School and Encore PAA.
