‘Stand-up’ for great comedians at the Alley Theatre
27 August 2024
If you’re looking for a night full of laughs then look no further than the Alley Theatre which has a host of great comedians lined up for gigs at the Strabane venue.
Over the next few months comedians Micky Bartlett, Emma Doran, David O’Doherty, Neil Delamere, Colin Murphy and Chris Kent will all be taking to the stage ready to share their jokes, stories and tall tales. You are guaranteed to leave the theatre with sore sides and a smile on your face.
First up on Saturday 14th September, Lurgan comedian Mickey Bartlett will perform his new show THICC! You’ve seen him on podcasts, you’ve seen him on telly now come see him live. Bartlett is a comic who clearly knows absolutely what he's doing. If you are looking for a rock-solid sure-fire stand-up who is going to get the crowd quaking with laughter, then Bartlett is the man.
Next up is the ‘dishevelled prince of €10 Ebay keyboards’ David O’Doherty. His new show ‘Tiny Piano Man’ will make you feel alive with a new pageant of laughter, song and occasionally getting up from a chair. It’s going to be a big one so don’t miss it on Friday 25th October.
Emma Doran is one of the most exciting stand-up comedians to emerge from these shores in years. She will perform her show ‘Dilemma’ at the Alley on Friday 8th November. Emma will take her audience into a post-apocalyptic world where they see her face a unique ‘dilemma’. There’s only one contraceptive pill left - do you give it to your 19-year-old daughter or keep it for yourself? Is it better to be a 40-year-old grandmother or a 40-year-old new Mum. These are the dilemmas facing Emma Doran aged 39 and 7/8s, even though the most obvious outcome is neither. If turning 40 is the start of something new, what is it the end of? Come and find out…
Comedy hero Neil Delamere returns with his new show ‘Achilles Neil’ on Saturday 23rd November. Join one of Ireland's favourite comics as he takes on life's absurdities in his own inimitable way. A celebration of the altogether too frequent weaknesses that make us human. Don’t miss the hilarious Achilles Neil, early booking advised.
After his sell out dates with his ‘Colinization’ and ‘Whatchamacolin’ tours, Colin Murphy is back out on the road in 2025 with his hilarious new show ‘Murphy Beaucoup!’ He examines, amongst many other things, dog poo etiquette, living in the future and being on the same planet as other humans who have the bare-faced cheek to be younger than you. See him live on Saturday 25th January.
Cork’s own Chris Kent returns to the Alley with his new show ‘Offline’ on Saturday 15th February. He tries to give up the internet and navigate life without asking his phone what to eat, where to go or how to get home. He longs for a simpler time of playing ‘Snake’ and constructing emojis himself. Now that he has hit 40 years of age, he wonders if he can ever go back to thinking for himself. Join him on a journey that will either make him or break him.
All these and lots more great shows are in the Alley Theatre Autumn/Winter programme available now. Download the new programme and for further information and tickets visit www.alley-theatre.com or call the Alley Theatre Box Office on 028 71 384444.
